Accessibility

Accessible websites are those that are constructed using core technologies that ensure the website is available to all visitors, regardless of their ability, disability or the type of technology they use to access the site.

The Disability Discrimination Act 1995 (DDA) requires that all websites conform to the relevant W3C Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG). Under this legislation it is unlawful for a provider of services (such as a website) to discriminate against a disabled person. The service provider must make reasonable adjustments to comply with these requirements and if not the disabled person or representative may initiate a claim against the service provider (website owner).

Accessible websites tend to be Search Engine Friendly, the end result being more visitors to your site.
